What is Cart Abandonment?
Cart abandonment means a shopper adds items to cart but does not complete the purchase. The average rate is around 70% — but this represents massive recoverable revenue.
Formula
Example
If 1,000 people added items to cart but only 300 completed purchase, abandonment rate = (1 - 300/1,000) × 100 = 70%. If AOV is $80, lost revenue = 700 × $80 = $56,000.
